New College Band Rehearsal Facility
Infinity was the General Contractor for renovating the 15,327-sf recreational ice arena building. We abated and demolished the existing public ice rink, replacing it with a 4,414-sf addition to become the College’s new band educational facility. It includes state-of-the-art acoustic controls on the floor slab and a sophisticated baffled ceiling that moves with the sound. We also completed renovations to the existing College ice rink adding a sprinkler system and renovating its restrooms.

The site of the addition encountered a host of unknown conditions, including underground utility lines, which we had to relocate. There were also glycol cooling lines in the public ice rink, shown to be empty on the drawings, which were full. They had to be removed and properly disposed of. At the start of construction, our confirming surveys revealed that the architect’s building dimensions were off by several feet in both directions. The redraw extended the original schedule by two months. Diverse firms put 22% of the work-in-place.
